For those who may be considering not going to prom, there are worries. For many people, there are reasons not to go right now. But, how will you feel down the road? If you take the time to really explore your reasons for going to prom, or not going to prom, you will ultimately make the right decision on whether or not to do so. This is a decision that you have to make, though. No one can really do it for you. Luckily, there are some real advantages available to thinking it through.
The first thing for you to do is to think prom through, thoroughly. What does prom mean to you right now? For each person, it means something different. For some, prom is a very special day, one that is to be remembered forever. For other girls, it is just a day out and dressed up, no much unlike other dances. Before you make the decision about whether or not to go to prom, really think about what prom means to you. For many, there is a deep down wanting to go to it. Does prom appeal to you in any way?
The next thing you want to think about is what it would be like five, ten or more years down the road for you. A good way to do this is to talk to your parents, friends and older relatives about their prom. Did they go? If they did not go, did they regret it? Perhaps prom was not what they had hoped it would be. Go ahead and take the time to explore these areas. Ask questions. This can help you to make your own decision simply because it allows you to see what type of regret those individuals have now.
Finally, talk to your friends, too. Find out how they feel about prom. What does it mean to them? What are they looking forward to in particular? Most importantly, notice your own feelings as you talk to them about this. Does prom appeal to you now that you know why others are so excited? Perhaps not, but, what you are really doing is making sure that you are exploring your feelings thoroughly. This way, you can make a better decision about going or not.
Should you go to prom? If you feel that it could matter to you at all, even well down the road go. If you feel that it would be a difficult time for you, or a time that you are unhappy, consider your feelings a bit more closely. Prom is not right for everyone. By taking the time to make this decision carefully, though, you can protect the way you will feel later, too.
