What's it all about and how did this kind of tradition begin? If we do some research, we find out that, according to Wikiipedia, April Fools is a day celebrated on April 1 on which practical jokes are played.
And in other areas of Wikkipedia, we find that though this day is not an official holiday, many people from many different nations celebrate in the festivities. So, what do you do on this day? Do you take part in the hoaxes? Or do you joke with your friends or play really bad jokes on neighbors? Do you use this day as an excuse to trick people or harm them?
Some, in some places do exactly that. They wait until April first and then play tricks on people that they do not like. Others celebrate the unofficial holiday by telling jokes to friends or going out and having a little party. Still overs, as we have seen on television so many times, play very complicated jokes on their so-called friends. For example, there was this one show on television where they displayed some friends who were about to play the joke on their friend. In this joke, or so-called joke, the friend was approached by police officers and then arrested. The person did not find out until afterwards that this was a joke.
Can you imagine the stress and the hardship that caused the friend? This was not funny at all yet, the friend was forced to think and act like it was funny, in the end just because someone yelled, APRIL FOOLS!
Why do we permit people, under the guise of friendship to abuse our friendship like that? If you have a friend, do not play any nasty or complicated jokes on them today. If you must celebrate , then just tell a friend something, for example, they are giving away free ice cream on Mulberry street today. Wait for the reaction, then almost immediately say, April fools!
To cause a friend, neighbor or relative undue lasting stress from a seriously complicated April fools joke is not funny at all. So stick to word jokes or puns and leave the physical stuff out of it. Do not let your friends travel places in a trick or do not let them be involved with the law or with doctors as part of an April Fools day trick. That simply is not funny and it is not friendly.
Staying away from the complicated stuff on April Fools day will keep everything lighter and will give you a happier unofficial holiday.
